Shitodo-no-iwaya Hidden Cave (in Yugawara)

This cave is said to be where Minamoto no Yoritomo hid himself after his defeat in the Battle of Ishibashiyama. The atmosphere of more than 20 stone Buddhas of various sizes lined up in a natural cave is truly an unexplored region. This is a spot where you can feel the historical Yugawara.

Hoshigaoka Park (Satsuki no Sato)

Hoshigaoka Park is a magnificent sight where 50,000 satsuki flowers bloom in early summer. Tourists flock to Hoshigaoka Park to catch a glimpse of the pink carpet-like scenery. The view of Sagami Bay from the observatory is a popular spot regardless of the season.

Joganji Temple

This famous temple is dominated by an estimated 800 year old Byakushin tree, which is also designated as a national natural monument. It is easily accessible, only a 10-minute walk from Yugawara Station, and is beloved as a power spot in Yugawara.

Yoshihama Beach

Yoshihama Beach is one of the best places to go in Yugawara in summer. The beach is crowded every year with many families enjoying swimming in the sea. A fireworks display is held every year in August, making it the perfect place to enjoy Yugawara in the summer.

Fudo Falls

A small waterfall in the mountains that was featured in Soseki Natsume's "Mei An". The waterfall has a 15-meter drop, but is abundant in water volume. On the left side of the waterfall is dedicated to Fudo, the god of substitution, and on the right side is dedicated to Daikoku, the god of success in life.

Makuyama Park Yugawara Plum Grove

The park is filled with the fragrance of ume (Japanese apricot) blossoms.
